Short
Biography
While
digital experimentation
is yet to fully free
itself from propitiation
to the technological
instrument, new idol
of a substitute creative
power, Cornelius has
reached a level of causative
creativeness where she
commands the software
to materialize each detail
of that which is the
exclusive result of her
vision.
Cornelius was born in
1953 in Copenhagen from
Danish parents, but spent
her childhood between
Nice, Rome and Venice,
where she attended the
Art Institute and the
School of Art. In 1972
a selection of her works
was chosen for the yearly
emerging artist exhibit
at the renowned Bevilacqua
la Masa art gallery in
Venice. This is the time
of her painting on fabric,
with the first distinctive
elements in her work
and expression: vivid
colors and the alternative
use of painting techniques.
 Her
inquiring mind and experimental
attitude made it natural
for her to start using
the computer as a tool
for her artistic creation
and this is how her paintings
evolved into digital
oils.
In 2001 her painting “Silva
Panthera Leo” was
chosen as the official
image for the 11th Festival
of African Movies in
Milano.
She lives and works
in Milano.
Since 2004 she also
teaches at the Politecnico
University, Indaco Design
section, Milan.

Cenni
biografici
 Mentre
l’esplorazione
del digitale fatica ad
affrancarsi dalla propiziazione
verso il mezzo tecnologico,
nuovo idolo di una forza
creatrice supplente,
Cornelius ha raggiunto
un livello di creatività causativa,
dove comanda al software
di materializzare ogni
dettaglio che è frutto
esclusivo della sua visione.
Cornelius nasce nel
1953 a Copenaghen da
genitori danesi, ma trascorre
l’infanzia fra
Nizza, Roma e infine
Venezia, dove frequenta
la Scuola d’Arte
e il Liceo Artistico.
Nel 1972 alcuni suoi
lavori vengono selezionati
per la mostra annuale
degli artisti emergenti
alla Galleria Bevilacqua
la Masa di Venezia.
È questo il
periodo dei dipinti su
stoffa, nei quali già troviamo
gli elementi distintivi
del suo modo di esprimersi
e di operare: un cromatismo
vivace e intenso e l’uso
alternativo delle tecniche
pittoriche.
Spirito curioso e indagatore,
orientato alla sperimentazione,
Cornelius decide infine
di esplorare le possibilità del
computer come strumento
per esprimersi artisticamente
ed è così che
la sua pittura diventa
digitale.
Nel 2001 l’opera
di Cornelius “Silva
Panthera Leo” è stata
scelta come immagine
simbolo dell’11° Festival
del Cinema Africano,
che si svolge ogni anno
a Milano.
Vive e lavora a Milano.
Dal 2004 docente al
Politecnico, Sezione
Indaco, Milano.
